Nys wins, Thijs Al is 7th in the muddy Spanish Basque Country (Igorre)

IGORRE (SPA) -
The men flew from Mallorca to the Spanish Basque Country, for the next World Cup round. The trail was very muddy from the rain in the recent days.
The start was not quite as planned, but fortunately Thijs was not hindered. He rode almost instantly in the first five in the field. There was a group of four leaders during the competition, including Sven Nys, Klaas Vantornout, Erwin Vervecken and Thijs Al.
Nys won some front time when Vantornout made a mistake during the bicycle turn/change? However Vantornout was soon close to Nys again, whereby two leaders were in the game. Nys was not together with Vantornout for very long as he chose to attack and secure another victory.
Pauwels and Wellens fought back from the back of the pack during the race and Stybar also passed Thijs on the final lap where Thijs finished in 7th. In the interim score for the World cup, Thijs moved up one position to 10th place. (Source: www.thijsal.com)
